Network Rail need to make urgent repairs to a rail embankment in the Crewkerne area on Sunday 20th December 2020 which will result in the line between Yeovil Junction and Exeter being closed all day. GWR services between Exmouth and Exeter are not affected.
Buses will replace trains all day with faster buses between Yeovil and Exeter being supplemented by a slower all stations service (alternating between Feniton and Whimple) between Honiton and Exeter. These changes are in addition to the current alterations between Basingstoke and Waterloo that we advised yesterday and existing planned engineering works between Salisbury and Yeovil (Sunday only) which means that services will be diverted via Westbury with further extensions to journey times.
Unfortunately we have been made aware that some online journey planners are still showing West of England line services running between Basingstoke and Waterloo. We are investigating the cause of the issue and aim to get this rectified as soon as possible.
Please accept our apologies for the unavoidable short notice of these additional changes on Sunday on top of the need to start and terminate services at Basingstoke.
