To complete our trio of very special rail tours that mark the 50th anniversary of public steam trains in London, UK Railtours and the MNLPS are delighted to bring you our very own commemoration train, appropriately named “The Waterloo Sunset”. By a happy co-incidence, the Kinks’ legendary song of the same name was still in the charts as the sun set on steam trains at Waterloo 50 years earlier. This tour will depart from London Waterloo about 10:30. A pick up will be made at Woking. The return to Waterloo will be at about 22:30. The planned route is as follows:
LONDON WATERLOO-WOKING- SALISBURY- SHERBOURNE-YEOVIL JCT YEOVIL JCT SHERBOURNE-SALISBURY-ROMSEY-EASTLEIGH-HAVANT-HASLEMERE–WOKINGLONDON WATERLOO.
Passengers will have the option of either alighting and exploring the picturesque and historic town of Sherborne or alternatively remain on board to visit the Yeovil Steam Centre as the loco is turned and serviced prior to our return to the capital.
