Despite appalling weather conditions a wonderful celebration of volunteering took place at Sherborne Castle Gardens yesterday. Under the “Stations in Bloom” banner Volunteer groups came together and shared the afternoon with leading figures from the rail industry and civic leaders. Volunteers from Barnstaple to Keynsham, Weymouth to Hedge End, Whitchurch to Feniton and everywhere in between, received awards from Peter Williams, Customer and Commercial Director for South Western Railway.
Groups were presented awards reflecting the wonderful work that they had carried out through the year, not just in horticulture, but pollinator friendly projects, health and wellbeing initiatives and marvellous artwork.
Top Britain in Bloom judge and chairman of Blackmore Vale CRP Derek Beer said
