About Us

The Blackmore Vale Community Rail Partnership is DfT accredited Partnership working with local people, businesses, councils and voluntary and statutory groups to promote the railway and the region’s beautiful towns and villages to potential rail users and visitors.

As well as encouraging greater community involvement in member stations of Tisbury, Gillingham (Dorset), Templecombe, Sherborne, Yeovil Junction and Crewkerne. Having a mainline railway service running between London Waterloo and Exeter St Davids, is a significant endowment for any area, and over thirty-five daily trains run in and out of the region.

Stations in Bloom Awards Ceremony 2023 Celebrating Station Volunteering

Great opportunities exist to build and create joined-up thinking and initiatives when people work together and recognise what a great asset they have in the station, and how it can play a major part in promoting the regions towns and many villages. Establishing ‘Town Teams,’ bring together people interested in promoting their towns, villages and stations as gateway destinations. The coveted accolade of accreditation status gained by the rail partnership is a formal recognition by the Department of Transport (like Ofsted for schools). Accreditation demonstrates a rail partnership operates to a high standard with objectives and activities that are supported by government.
